Adams directed the hotel planning and design for the client, Starwood Capital, to repurpose and rebrand the iconic but underperforming Yankee Trader Hotel. In addition to full renovation of the twin tower hotel, the program called for the addition of a new banquet building to include ballrooms and a rooftop wedding venue overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway. Adams developed a unique and highly efficient back of house strategy to span the two towers and banquet facility. The façades of the two towers were rebuilt to give each guestroom a Juliette balcony giving guests the ability to view the ocean while enjoying sea breezes from within their guestrooms. The pool deck was expanded and reconfigured and connected to the beach with a skybridge over the boulevard. Creative lighting solutions were devised to prevent endangered sea turtles from being drawn toward the roadway at night. Mathes Brierre coordinated the project design with local architects, FSMY, who served as AOR for the project. (Adams was Principal in Charge and Design Lead for Mathes Brierre Architects in joint venture with FSMY Architects).
