Morphosis Architects engaged Lawrence Adams of ForrestPerkins as hotel design specialist for peer review for the 7132 Hotel project in the ski resort town of Vals in the Swiss Alps. The Morphosis design was for a 408-meter high, slender mirror glass tower with 107 luxury guestrooms and suites. The highly unusual design presented many challenges in applying sound hotel design principles and achieving operational efficiencies for the hotel. Adams provided guidance on all aspects of the hotel’s design including grand arrival and reception, spas, restaurants, café, bar, ballroom, gallery, library, pool, fitness and business centers; support spaces included administrative, loading and delivery, technical, kitchen and laundry. Adams guided the Morphosis design team through the design process towards a feasible and functional hotel design.
