BKSK Architects engaged Lawrence Adams for hotel planning for a large mixed-use project in an historic 67-story high-rise building in Lower Manhattan. The mixed-use project included residential on the upper floors and hotel on the lower floors of the historic tower. Adams provided a detailed facilities program and planned the hotel public spaces, guestroom levels and back of house areas. Specialized planning was required to adapt the office floor plans to hotel use, including the challenge of incorporation of a double-height banquet space. Part of the complex adjacent to the tower was a new-build cultural building and a renovated office building. Adams provided guidance for maximizing the benefits of the hotel component to the other uses in the mixed-use complex.
